Denmark will continue to support Kosovo on its path towards integration in the European Union

Prishtina, 27 September 2013 – Minister Çitaku hosted today the Denmark’s European Affairs Parliamentary Committee, led by Ms. Eva Kjar Hansen, Chairwomen of the European Affairs of the Denmark`s Parliament.

Minister Çitaku informed the delegation led by Ms. Hansen on recent developments in the country regarding Kosovo advancement on the European Agenda, respectively the fulfilment of short-term criteria for commencing negotiation for the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) and for the ongoing work of the institutions within the preparations for commencing SAA negotiations.

Regarding visa liberalization, Minister Çitaku informed Minister Ms. Hansen on the fulfilment state of the Visa Liberalization Roadmap, adoption of the Action Plan for Visa Liberalization and the ongoing work of institutions on this regard. Minister Çitaku emphasized the importance and the direct impact that visa liberalization process has in the everyday life of Kosovo citizens.

During the meeting was discussed the importance of agreement with Serbia and beginning of normalization of the relations between the two countries, which same time is a condition for EU integration.

Ms. Hansen stated that Denmark will continue to support Kosovo on its path toward integration in the European Union.
