In the meeting were discussed latest developments in Kosovo, advancement on European agenda and the dialogue with Serbia, especially implementation of the agreements reached in dialogue process between two countries. On this occasion Minister Çitaku emphasized that more support from the European Union is expected on implementation of these agreements.
Minister Çitaku raised the issue of visas for the Kosovo citizens noting that continuation of current regime under which Kosovo citizens can travel to Croatian territory with Schengen visa would be very important and favourable for both parties.
On this occasion, Minister Çitaku thanked the members of the delegation for visiting Kosovo and added that Croatia has been and remains an ally of Kosovo. In addition, the people of the two countries have friendship and mutual respect for each other. This friendship is natural, not only because of our common past of fighting for freedom, but also because of our shared vision of embracing European values.
This relationship explains the excellent level of bilateral cooperation between our two friend countries in all areas of mutual interest.
On behalf of the delegation Minister Jovanović said that” it is important for Croatia that Kosovo institutions ensure equal rights for all its citizens and in this process you’ll have full support from our country. We support Kosovo’s path toward European integration and we’ll stand beside you as open and sincere friends.
Regarding the visa regime Minister Jovanović stressed that very soon will be achieved an agreement between the two countries which will provide facilities for Kosovars that possess Schengen visa.
Croatian delegation also commended Minister Çitaku and Government of Kosovo for building stable institutions, building of bridges of peace and cooperation between nations, and this is the path that Croatia will support.
Minister Çitaku emphasized that in five years of independence Kosovo has fulfilled almost all short term criteria from the Feasibility Study and we are continuing our work in order to attain Stabilization and Association Agreement with EU.
The Government of the Republic of Kosovo will continue its commitment in function of fulfilling all criteria and standards in order to integrate as soon as possible in the European family.
In addition, Minister Çitaku said that visa free movement is a matter of a human dimension and that Kosovo should enjoy a fair and equal treatment with their neighbours.
