Prishtina, 24 March 2017 – Minister of European Integration, Ms. Mimoza Ahmetaj, has received today in a meeting the delegation from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), lead by the Head of EBRD for Kosovo, Ms. Elena Petrovska, associated by the supportive officials, to discuss the ongoing cooperation and future plans.
Minister Ahmetaj informed the delegation about the key priorities in the process of European integration, namely in the framework of the Stabilization and Association Agreement. At the same time, Minister Ahmetaj underlined the importance of better coordination of all financial resources to support the Government’s key development projects.
The EBRD representatives, on the other hand, informed Minister Ahmetaj regarding the Investment Climate and Governance Initiative (ICGI), launched by the EBRD, to assist countries in the region with regards to good governance, transparency and healthy competition, the project Investment Climate and Governance Initiative, through which they structure cooperation with the regional countries.
They are focused in sectors such as, support to private sector development and capacity building in the sector of environment for investment, competition, procurement and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms such as arbitration, ombudsman for businesses and other projects. Part of this initiative is also the Memorandum of Understanding, which EBRD is already discussing with our government, and which will focus on the support for private sector development and business environment, for consultation mechanisms between the Government, private sector and international financial institutions, on the capacities of the Competition Authority, on the implementation of legislation on bankruptcy and other aspects of the reform on doing business.
