Minister Reka hosted in a meeting the Swedish Ambassador

Prishtina, 13 March 2020 – The Minister of European Integration, Mr. Blerim Reka hosted today in a meeting the Swedish Ambassador to Kosovo, Mrs. Karin Hernmarck, whereby discussed the relations between the two countries and the priorities related to European agenda.

 

On this occasion, Minister Reka appreciated the continuous support of Sweden, both in building Kosovo’s democratic institutions and in membership to regional and international organizations. Minister Reka urged Ambassador Hernmarck to continue with this support and be even more structured, in order to have greater impact on Kosovo’s path towards EU integration and especially on visa liberalization.

 

At the same time, Minister Reka stated that Kosovo has fulfilled all the criteria for visa liberalization, therefore the supportive voice of Sweden would be more than welcome at this time, especially having in mind the Zagreb Summit that will be held in May.

 

On the other hand, Ambassador Hernmarck pointed out Kosovo’s commitment and enthusiasm to advance as much as possible with the European agenda, and expressed her hopes that coming period will be on Kosovo’s side in terms of concretization of both, free movement for citizens and advancement with the SAA and ERA processes.

 

Ambassador Hernmarck also emphasized that Sweden will support the efforts of Kosovo citizens in realization of its aspirations towards the European family. At the same time, the Ambassador Hernmarck reiterated that Sweden stands by the citizens of Kosovo on their path to EU integration. At the end, the Ambassador of Sweden emphasized that the annual meeting between Sweden and the Republic of Kosovo will be held soon, and they are preparing a new Strategy that addresses the cooperation reforms.
