Prishtina, 22 February 2019 – The Minister of European Integration of Kosovo, Dhurata Hoxha, held a press conference informing the media about the implementation of the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) and sharing the good news for surpassing the SAA implementation plan.
“The National Program for the Implementation of the SAA for 2018 has surpassed its expectations. According to our agreement with the EU on Budget Support to the Public Administration Reform, it was envisaged that the implementation for 2018 would be at least 60%, while the actual implementation level of the plan is 68.23%,” Minister Hoxha stated, adding that the plans agreed with the EU should aim at implementation levels of 70% and 80%, respectively in 2019 and 2020.
Minister Hoxha emphasized that EU funds to Kosovo have marked an increase, with EUR 73 million allocated under IPA 2017, EUR 90.5 million under IPA 2018 and approximately EUR 200 million allocated under IPA 2019-2020.
In addition, the Minister said that the level of implementation of ERA in 2018 is 74.07%, pointing out that the Government of the Republic of Kosovo will attempt to surpass the plans during 2019 and the subsequent years.
Minister Hoxha thanked the EU for its continued support to the implementation of the NPISAA, the European Reform Agenda (ERA), the Economic Reform Program, the Public Administration Reform, Public Finance Management, Strengthening Rule of Law and many other areas of vital importance for the future of the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo.
Further, the Minister informed the media on the 21st round of applications under the Western Balkans Investment Framework, where the value of infrastructure projects exceeds EUR 250 million.
Finally, Minister Hoxha answered questions posed by reporters concerning visa liberalization, neighbourly relations and dialogue, and integration processes.
