Germany, 6 July 2018 – Minister of European Integration, Ms. Dhurata Hoxha, during her visit to Berlin, was hosted by the Chair of the German Bundestag Committee on the Affairs of the European Union, Mr. Gunther Krichbaum, with whom she discussed the need for Germany’s further support to integration matters, particularly in visa liberalisation.
Minister Hoxha emphasised that visa liberalisation strongly affects the realization of institutional priorities of the Republic of Kosovo, the exchange of experiences betwee our youths, communication, and skills, thus increasing the competitiveness of domestic companies and general perspective with regard to the implementation of the SAA and reforms foreseen under Brussels recommendations.
“Germany’s support to Kosovo, particularly by Bundestag’s Committees, and the positive recommendation in the European Parliament, are of special importance to the processes that our country is going through. I reassured Mr. Kirchbaum that we will not allow free movement to be misused by anyone, because our legislation and institutions in-charge of their implementation, have the needed competences for such matters”, stated Minister Hoxha.
Furthermore, the Minister of European Integration, Ms. Dhurata Hoxha, had a meeting at the federal Ministry for Cooperation, with Mr. Heike Backofen-Warnecke, Deputy Head of Division for South East Europe, and Southern Caucasus, with whom she discussed the possibility of deepening our co-operation.
Minister Hoxha emphasised the achievements and challenges in the integration process, particularly the development support of the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Kosovo in the implementation of the SAA and the European Reform Agenda.
“The co-operation and support of Germany to Kosovo is welcomed, and we have a good experience in the function of Kosovo’s priorities toward EU integration. Our priorities, such as sustainable economic development, human rights, education, public administration and energy, are given sufficient importance in the light of this cooperation”, emphasised Minister Hoxha.
Ms. Heike Backofen-Warnecke praised Kosovo’s achievements in the integration process, pointing out the readiness to deepen inter-ministerial and inter-government cooperation. She emphasised the importance of the Consultation Protocol for the Development Cooperation between Kosovo and Germany, signed earlier, which is expected to be implemented in the second half of the year.
