Additionally, Minister Hoxhaj stated “during this year we should focus in strengthening implementation of laws, public administration reform, and must continue the fight against corruption and organized crime, and increase confiscation of assets”.

Below you can find the posting of Minister Dhurata Hoxha in the social networks:

“Honoured citizens of the Republic of Kosovo, the European Commission (EC) published the Country Report. We welcome the publication of this report, and considerate it realistic and objective. Specifically, we appreciate that the report identifies the achievements and challenges of respective institutions. It is of utmost importance that EC appraises the progress Kosovo has made in many areas. The ratification of the Border Demarcation Agreement with Montenegro is mentioned in the report as a positive and an important step.

Also, it has been noted that the 2017’s elections were well-administered and free.
The report also addressed the public administration reform and judicial system, highlighting the success achieved by the independent agencies’ review process, the success achieved with the adoption of the judicial package laws and integration of judges and prosecutors in the north of the country.

Among the most important matters in this report is the recognition of progress in the fight against corruption and organized crime. On this occasion, the EC has stated that Kosovo institutions have made progress in prosecuting high profile cases of corruption and organized crime.

Also, it was emphasised that progress has been made in the preliminary confiscation of assets.
The recognition of progress is very important for the visa liberalization process. The report, in general, has evaluated that Kosovo institutions have made progress in the field of economic criteria, normalization of relations with Serbia and in general regarding harmonization of legislation with EU standards.

Honoured citizens, the Country Report in addition to highlighting the achievements has also highlighted the institutions’ challenges in certain areas. However, I consider that the Report is a roadmap and a guide for our institutions in order to intensify work in certain areas. During this year, we need to focus more on strengthening implementation of laws, public administration reform, continue the fight against corruption and organized crime, and increase the confiscation of assets.

Also, particular attention should be paid to the field of education and employment as two key areas for successful implementation of the SAA.

As the Minister of European Integration, I will do my best in encouraging all institutions to intensify work in addressing challenges identified in the Country Report.

Addressing these challenges and reforms in the aforementioned areas is our only path towards EU integration.”
