Minister Hoxha: “Europe for citizens” programme, a chance to apply for 187 million euro fund

Prishtina, 13 July 2018 – Minister of European Integration, Dhurata Hoxha, proposed for approval to the Cabinet, the Draft Law on Ratification of the Agreement between Kosovo and the European Union on Kosovo’s participation in the “Europe for Citizens” programme. The proposal of Minister Hoxha was approved unanimously.

 

The agreement between Kosovo and the European Union on Kosovo’s participation in the “Europe for Citizens” programme was concluded on 26 June 2018 in Brussels.

 

The fund of EU agencies for this programme is 187 million euro and is devoted to areas such as raising awareness regarding Europe’s common history and values, Democratic participation and civic participation, Debating the future of Europe and challenging Euroscepticism, Fostering intercultural dialogue and mutual understanding, European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018, etc.

 

Minister Hoxha emphasized that this agreement regulates Kosovo’s membership in the framework of the “Europe for Citizens” programme and according to her, Kosovo will pay the membership of 15 thousand euros, which is planned within this year’s budget for the Ministry of European Integration.

 

“Once the agreement and membership fee is finalized, organizations and citizens from Kosovo can apply to calls for proposals announced by this programme during this year,” accentuated Minister Hoxha.

 

The Minister also requested ratification of this draft law by the Assembly before the summer vacations, as this would enable the entry into force of the agreement, and allow access to applicants from Kosovo to the programme which provides funding in the amount of 187 million euros.
