Minister Hoxha: Capacity building is our common priority with the EU

Prishtina, 14 March 2019 – At the meeting organized for Young Cell Scheme beneficiaries for this year, in which attended the UK Ambassador O’Connell, the Rector Marjan Demaj, representatives of institutions and project beneficiaries, the Minister of European Integration, Dhurata Hoxha, assessed the project importance amongst the most valuable ones in Kosovo.

“Capacity building of the civil service is one of the essential prerequisites for fulfilling our obligations under the Stabilization and Association Process, Public Administration Reform and all other reforms necessary for the European integration process”, said Minister Hoxha. She also added that so far, 322 students from Kosovo have been sent for studies abroad.

Currently, 50 students have been sent for studies abroad and are expected to return within the year, emphasized Minister Hoxha. Furthermore, from the last round, 40 students will be sent for studies abroad this year, and will come back to be employed next year.

“We have co-financed the last two rounds worth EUR 1 million, while the project as such will continue in the following years to be financed by the EU and co-financed by the Government of Kosovo”, said Minister Hoxha.

This project is unique as it manages to provide education of youth in specialized areas in some of the best universities of the EU countries, to provide employment after returning from studies and to improve the capacity of institutions through the involvement of specialized youth in public administration”, emphasized Minister Hoxha. Likewise, she congratulated the European Union for the project and wished the best of luck and success to scholarship beneficiaries in their studies.
