In the meeting with the civil society, Minister Çollaku stated that “it is very important to continue communication in a correct way and at a high and comprehensive level, the European agenda reforms affect the entire society, therefore it is vital that joint commitment and support of each institution, political party, and the civil society continues in order to ensure an European perspective with a concrete agenda toward Kosovo`s membership into the European Union”.
Furthermore, following the interest of the civil society, the minister spoke on European integration processes, with particular emphasis in Visa Liberalisation and the SAA.
“We expect the SAA to be signed during the year, as such this agreement will bring many benefits to the citizens of the country and particularly to the trade business sectors; this first contractual agreement of Kosovo as a country, will open the paths of Kosovo`s market toward European Union countries” stated Minister Çollaku.
Whereas with regard to visa liberalisation, Minister Çollaku said that good days are coming for Kosovo and that Kosovo as a country is in the final stage of fulfilling the criteria’s emerging from the visa liberalisation roadmap, and we expect a meritorious decision by the European Union soon.
Additionally, Minister Çollaku continued the meeting agenda with the Mayor of Ferizaj, where he requested the local level to be intensively involved in the prevention of illegal migration.
Following the meeting, Minister Çollaku and Mr. Sfarça held a press conference. On this occasion Minister Çollaku stated that “No European Country will accept Kosovar`s asylum applications; do not start a hopeless journey, it is more worth investing to stay here rather than to migrate, whereas we as a Government are doing our best to improve the conditions for a better life in Kosovo”.
On his behalf, the Mayor of the Municipality of Ferizaj, Mr. Muharrem Sfarça stated as follows: “The phenomenon of illegal migration, is burdening our efforts for good governance in fulfilling European Union integration criteria, therefore this is an important moment to prevent this disturbing phenomenon, by establishing a joint force between the central and local level to avoid this phenomenon”.
At the end, Mr. Sfarça, as a sign of appreciation, gave Minister Çollaku, the symbol containing the logo of the Municipality of Ferizaj.
