Minister Çitaku continues the agenda of coordinating with Mayors

Today were visited four municipalities of Kosovo: Gjilan, Kllokot, Viti and Lipjan, on which occasion minister Çitaku was hosted by the respective mayors of municipalities. In the meetings were discussed the possibilities to advance coordination and cooperation regarding the recommendations and obligations arising from the European Commissions reports both for European integration process and for the Visa Liberalization for Kosovo.

In the meetings with the Mayors, the central topic was to increase the level of cooperation between the local and central government, respectively, the process of reintegration of repatriated persons, treatment of the phenomena of irregular migration in municipal level and possibilities of financing projects within the Pre-Accession Assistance  (IPA). At the same time, a topic of these meetings were also the modalities for accommodation of the scholarship holders from the “Young Cells Scheme” program in the municipal administration, a project which is in cooperation with the Ministry of European Integration and European Commission.

Topics which contribute to the development of a professional administration in Kosovo, but at the same time, contribute to the European integration in general, Visa Liberalization process as well as to strengthening coordination between institutions.

On this occasion, Minister Çitaku, after her visit in Brussels to meet with Commissioner Fyle, informed the Mayors, in details, regarding the developments on the negotiations of Stabilisation and Associations Agreement, as well as on the European development agenda in general.
Also, Minister Çitaku promised the assistance of the ministry, to the municipalities, in order to cope with the challenges of repatriation of citizens in their municipalities, and that she will engage at central level to improve the legal conditions for economic development, and within this, to create a better climate for investors.
