Prishtina, 16 February 2017 – Minister of European Integration, Ms. Mimoza Ahmetaj, met today the Head of European Union, at the same time the EU Special Representative in Kosovo, Ms. Nataliya Apostolova. On this occasion, Minister Ahmetaj expressed the commitment of Kosovo institutions for cooperation with EU Office for advancing EU agenda for Kosovo.
Minister Ahmetaj informed Ms. Apostolova of her vision to lead the European integration process, namely SAA implementation process, whose results have already started to be shaped. As this is a reform agenda, this process is expected for this process to gain in dynamics in order to bring specific benefits for Kosovo citizens and more information about SAA implementation.
With regards to the visa liberalization process, Minister Ahmetaj pointed out the necessity for Kosovo citizens to conclude this process as soon as possible. On the other hand, Ms. Apostolova pointed out that agreement for demarcation with Montenegro should be ratified and the fight against corruption and organized crime should continue. She stated that EU remains ready to help Kosovo in this process.
The interlocutors discussed also about EU programmes as one of the key instruments to approximate Kosovo with European Union and to make a stronger link between citizens, civil society and business community.
Head of EU Office in Kosovo, at the same time the EU Special Representative, Ms. Nataliya Apostolova, congratulated Minister for the new responsibility to lead the European integration process, highlighting the importance of Minister appointment with regards to the coordination and advancing the European Agenda in all ministries.. She also pointed out that “European Commission remains committed to support Kosovo in its European path and I expect to work together for advancing it, especially SAA implementation and communication of EU agenda to Kosovo citizens” stated among others Ms. Apostolova.
