Kosovo is committed on its European integration path

Prishtina, 20 July 2017 – Minister of European Integration, Mimoza Ahmetaj, held a lecture for students in the framework of International Summer Academy, in Kosovo.On this occasion, Minister Ahmetaj spoke about Kosovo`s European integration process and the European Union (EU) enlargement process. The Minister briefed students on the history of Kosovo – EU relations and advancements in the European agenda of both Kosovo and the region. Same time she also tackled the regional cooperation and exchange of experiences to advance further with the European agenda. Since Minister Ahmetaj spoke more details about the functioning of the European Union, how the EU institutions function, what are the EU’s structures and programs to support the accession of Aspiring countries.

Based on this, Kosovo, with its own potential, continued to factorize and contribute to its membership in regional and international initiatives. Also, being involved in the dialogue facilitated by European Union, it has managed to advance with the European agenda, while meeting the technical and political criteria in this regard. In comparison with the countries of the region, only one year after the entry into force of the Stabilization and Association Agreement, Kosovo marked a great success in SAA implementation, while it managed to establish and functionalize the key structures that will contribute to the implementation of The SAA, therefore it is expected that Kosovo will maximally benefit from SAA. Minister Ahmetaj invited international students to keep following developments in Kosovo even after the end of this summer program and to be a voice of reality with its dynamic youth, as well as the rapid social development that Kosovo is going through.

While to local students, Minister Ahmetaj conveyed the message that institutions are maximally committed to meeting the criteria under their responsibility and the future of Kosovo is bright. The International Summer Academy is organized by Kosovo Center of Diplomacy, in cooperation with Kolegji Universum.

This event hosted 53 students from 27 different countries such as the USA, England, Scotland, Germany, Norway, the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Luxembourg, Latvia, Ireland, Italy, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Japan, Columbia, Switzerland, Belgium, Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Croatia, Bahrain, Ukraine and Nigeria.

Minister Ahmetaj hosted the head of UNICEF Office in Kosovo Mr. Co

Prishtina, 20 July 2017 – Minister Ahmetaj hosted today the Director of the UNICEF Office in Kosovo, Mr. Brandao Co, Mr. James Mugaju Deputy Director of the Office and Mr. Agron Gashi.

During this occasion, Minister Ahmetaj extended her gratitude to Mr. Co for many years’ cooperation and contribution of UNICEF Office in Kosovo in supporting Kosovo in many areas such as health, education and social welfare, to revitalize its development.

The focus of discussion was the coordination of policies and direct contribution to marginalized groups and the reintegration of repatriated persons, respectively the provision of healthcare and primary education for children of all communities from the two categories above.

On her part, Minister Ahmetaj based on the European Commission Country Report, put particular emphasis on coordination of activities in order to mark greater success for the groups that support is very much needed.

Whereas, Mr. Co, was grateful for the interest and work that Kosovo institutions are doing to support campaigns to help people in need.
