Kosovo and Sweden discuss key development reforms

Prishtina, 1 March 2017 – The Ministry of European Integration and the Embassy of Sweden in Kosovo, organized the annual meeting between Sweden and Kosovo in the light of Swedish reform cooperation with Kosovo, which provides for 2014-2020 cooperation reform agreement.

In her opening remarks, Minister Ahmetaj stated: “The overall objective of the reform cooperation between Sweden and Kosovo is to support EU integration processes and improve living conditions for citizens. Sweden has not only been an important partner Kosovo`s development, but also a very more important political ally. Today, we confirmed our mutual commitment to orient reforms in three main areas: economic development and private sector development, democracy and human rights, environment and climate changes”.

Swedish Ambassador to Kosovo, Mr. Henrik Nilsson, stated: “The purpose of this annual meeting is to have an open and credible dialogue over achievements and results of reform cooperation between our countries, but also challenges faced in cooperation for both Sweden and Kosovo. Sweden is generally satisfied with the reform cooperation and openness to dialogue on the Kosovo side, although there are many challenges that Kosovo faces. “

Upon this meeting, the delegations led by Minister Ahmetaj and Ambassador Nilsson reviewed progress in the implementation of the Swedish support for the period 2014-2020, amounted to of 8-10 million Euros per year. Delegations confirmed that the support is being implemented as planned, with currently 25 programs and projects.
