Today decision presents the first official step of our path towards European Union membership
SAA is the first contractual agreement between the Republic of Kosovo and the European Union that provides a clear perspective towards full membership of Kosovo in EU, as well this is the most advanced form of association that a potential candidate country may have with the European Union
Agreement provides a strategic framework for overall social, political and economic development of aspiring country for EU membership. As well, this agreement presents a legal framework that provides stability and assurance for investors, and as such it creates a sound basis for foreign direct investment and generating of jobs.
Launching of negotiations between the Republic of Kosovo and European Union finally anchors integration process of Kosovo and as well further consolidates the international legal status of our state.
SAA presents a step closer to achieving status of candidate country, which will enable broader framework for financial assistance benefits from the EU.
Today decision for opening of SAA negotiations is a merit of the all the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo and entire political spectrum, also confirms achieved progress regarding political, economic and legal reform undertakings in the Republic of Kosovo.
