June 17, 2019

Prishtina, 17 June 2019 – To Kosovo, the European Integration process is not an alternative, instead it is the path we have chosen and we must carry out our duties to make a progress, said the Minister of European Integration, Dhurata Hoxha, in a meeting held with the Head of the EU Office in Kosovo, Nataliya Apostolova, ambassadors of EU countries in Kosovo, Ministers of the Government of Kosovo and other representatives where it was discussed the Country Report 2019.

Minister Hoxha considered the Report as advancement in the integration process, and considered that the dynamics of this process should be accelerated.

Minister Hoxha informed the attendees that the Ministry she leads immediately after the Country Report has been published has taken the necessary steps identifying all the deficiencies, gaps and recommendations of the Country Report by forwarding them to the institutions responsible for further and immediate action. Also, Minister Hoxha informed the attendees about the meeting she had with Prime Minister Haradinaj in the format of the Ministerial Council for European Integration (MCEI) meeting on 3 June 2019, discussing the findings and recommendations of the Report and addressing them by all Kosovo institutions.

Further, Minister Hoxha informed the attendees that on the Country Report she had reported i) to the Parliamentary Committee for European Integration (PCEI), ii) she had organized a press conference to inform the citizens on the findings of this Report, and organized a regular meeting with the Sub-Committee on Justice, Freedom and Security (SAA structure), elaborating the achievements and challenges to be addressed in the field of Rule of Law and Security in general.

“We plan to hold monthly meetings of the Ministerial Council for European Integration (MCEI) to monitor the implementation of findings and recommendations deriving from the Country Report”, emphasized Minister Hoxha, noting that they will remain committed to overcoming the challenges and difficulties. Institutions need to reflect on the report and come up with better coordination, co-operation and fixed time limits in order to avoid any delays.
In the end, Minister Hoxha expressed her commitment to further accelerate the European Integration process in all possible directions, in order to further advance this no-alternative process for Kosovo.
