At the invitation of the European Liberal Forum, in cooperation with the ALDE Party and the Atlantic Club of Bulgaria, the Chief Negotiator of the Republic of Kosovo with the EU, Mr. Jeton Zulfaj, participated in a panel titled “Voice of the Region: The Balkans’ Path in a Competitive World,” held as part of the “EU Meets the Balkans” forum.
During his remarks, Chief Negotiator Zulfaj called for Kosovo to advance toward obtaining candidate country status and opening EU membership negotiations.
He emphasized that Kosovo has met the criteria and completed its “homework,” and that it is now time for the EU to take the necessary steps to move the process forward. In this regard, he highlighted the Republic of Kosovo’s achievements as one of the most developed democracies in the region—characterized by sustainable economic growth, social progress, and full alignment with the EU’s Common Foreign and Security Policy.
Chief Negotiator Zulfaj also stressed that Kosovo’s progress on its EU path serves the mutual interest of both Kosovo and the European Union, as it directly contributes to strengthening security and stability in the Western Balkans and across Europe.
