Last week, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Albin Kurti, signed five international agreements with the European Union, opening a new dynamic in the implementation of EU projects.

Today, at the 11th Government meeting, two of these agreements were approved, which require ratification by the Assembly:
• The amendment to the Financial Agreement for IPA 2019, Part II, enabling the extension of the Young Cell Scheme until October 2027;
• The amendment for IPA 2020, enabling the contracting of a €17.6 million grant for the district heating project in Prishtina.
The Young Cell Scheme remains one of the most successful programmes of cooperation with the EU, supporting young people to study at top EU universities and return to contribute to Kosovo’s institutions.
The district heating project has a significant impact on the energy system: it foresees an expansion of the network by around 90%, covering over 20,700 units and approximately 82,000 residents, increasing energy efficiency and reducing air pollution.
These developments mark a concrete step toward accelerating project implementation and deepening cooperation with the European Union.
