During his visit to Sweden, the Chief Negotiator of the Republic of Kosovo with the European Union, Mr. Jeton Zulfaj, met with Ms. Petra Burcher, Head of the Western Balkans and Turkey Unit at the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA). The meeting took place at the premises of the Embassy of the Republic of Kosovo in Stockholm.
Mr. Zulfaj expressed his gratitude for Sweden’s continuous and long-term support for Kosovo since 1999, as well as for the important role that Sida has played in supporting democratic development, strengthening institutions and advancing reforms in the country.
During the meeting, the current cooperation and opportunities for its deepening in key areas such as democratic governance, local governance, economic development and employment, gender equality, social inclusion, as well as strengthening institutional capacities for the design and implementation of public policies were discussed.
Mr. Zulfaj spoke about Kosovo’s progress in implementing the Reform Agenda under the EU Growth Plan and the country’s priorities on the path to EU membership. He emphasized the commitment of Kosovo’s institutions to increase absorption capacity and effectiveness in implementing reforms, with the aim of making the best use of the support of international partners and creating tangible results for citizens.
