Following his appointment, the Chief Negotiator of the Republic of Kosovo with the European Union and National Coordinator for the Reform and Growth Instrument, Mr. Jeton Zulfaj, paid his first official visit abroad to Albania.

He held a courtesy meeting with his Albanian counterpart, the Minister of State and Chief Negotiator for the EU, Ms. Majlinda Dhuka, accompanied by the Director General of the State Agency for Strategic Programming and Aid Coordination (SASPAC), Ms. Eridana Çano.

Mr. Zulfaj thanked Ms. Dhuka for the warm reception and praised Albania’s achievements in the European integration process. “The Republic of Kosovo is pleased with your results,” he stated.

Cooperation between Kosovo and Albania is both natural and necessary.

Mr. Zulfaj emphasized that Kosovo’s priority is obtaining candidate status and opening negotiations as well-deserved steps, where Albania’s experience will serve as guidance for preparation and acceleration.

Ms. Dhuka welcomed the meeting and expressed full readiness to share Albania’s experience on the path to EU membership, including the questionnaire for obtaining candidate status, the screening process, technical preparations for opening and closing negotiations, as well as Albania’s model for institutional coordination in European integration.

Ms. Dhuka highlighted the importance of timely preparation and proper planning for EU integration processes and assured that Albania will support Kosovo with its experience.

We are grateful for the willingness of the Republic of Albania and the Minister of State and Chief Negotiator, Ms. Majlinda Dhuka, to deepen cooperation with Kosovo in support of integration into the European Union.
