Prishtina, 03 March, 2015 – The Minister of the Ministry for European Integration, Mr. Bekim Çollaku had a working lunch with Mr. Theo Francken, Secretary of State for Asylum and Migration of Belgium, during his visit to the Republic of Kosovo.

During the meeting were discussed the aspects of cooperation and the excellent relation between the two countries with particular focus in developments related to the process of European Integration of the Republic of Kosovo.

Minister Çollaku, thanked Secretary Francken for the continuous support of the Kingdom of Belgium in advancing Kosovo`s European agenda, and reaffirmed the commitment of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo to address the issues of illegal migration through undertaking necessary sector reforms in the context of the European integration process, by improving the economy, generating new work places and improving the quality and perspective of our citizens` life.

Minister Çollaku informed Mr. Francken on the measures undertaken by the Government and other institutions of the country in addressing the migration inciting factors, whereby emphasising that “Belgium may serve as a model for other EU countries in eliminating the migration attracting factors“.

On the other hand, Mr. Francken reiterated the position of the Kingdom of Belgium in supporting Kosovo`s integration processes, adding that “Belgium considers Kosovo a safe country”, consequently, Kosovo citizens will not benefit of the asylum right in this country, and in accordance with the Repatriation Agreement, will be returned to Kosovo within days.
