The Chief Negotiator of the Republic of Kosovo with the European Union, Jeton Zulfaj, met with Hungary’s Special Envoy for the Western Balkans, András Klein, who was accompanied by the Hungarian Ambassador to Kosovo, László István Dux.

The meeting served as a follow-up to discussions held in Budapest earlier this month. Mr. Zulfaj thanked Mr. Klein for the hospitality shown in Budapest and for his visit to Pristina.

The discussion focused on Kosovo’s European Union accession process, regional developments, and bilateral cooperation. Mr. Zulfaj emphasized that obtaining candidate country status and opening EU accession negotiations remain priorities for Kosovo.

In this context, Hungary’s role as a partner to Kosovo in the field of security—through its ongoing contribution to the NATO mission—was acknowledged. The importance of strengthening economic relations and institutional cooperation between the two countries was also highlighted.

Mr. Zulfaj valued the substantive exchange of views with Mr. Klein, as well as the perspective offered by Hungary—a Central European nation with experience in the EU accession process and a member of the “Friends of the Western Balkans” group. He expressed interest in continuing the dialogue and deepening cooperation.
