Chief Negotiator of the Republic of Kosovo with the European Union, Jeton Zulfaj, met with the new Head of the EU Office in Kosovo, Ambassador Dirk Schuebel, whom he welcomed and wished success in his new position.
Chief Negotiator Zulfaj emphasized that Kosovo’s advancement towards EU membership is a priority of the Government and a strategic objective of the country, and that the EU Office in Kosovo has an important role to play in this process.
Candidate status and the opening of accession negotiations, the implementation of the Reform Agenda under the Growth Plan, and the implementation of EU-funded infrastructure projects were among the main topics discussed at the meeting.
Ahead of the EU’s assessment of the six-month report and the upcoming enlargement package, the Chief Negotiator emphasized the importance of a fair assessment of Kosovo’s overall progress.
Chief Negotiator Zulfaj thanked Ambassador Schuebel for the meeting and expressed his readiness for close cooperation and regular exchanges throughout his mandate, with a view to advancing Kosovo’s progress and strengthening relations between Kosovo and the European Union.
