

Prishtina, 21 February 2017 – Minister for European Integration, Ms. Mimoza Ahmetaj, hosted today the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, Ms. Angelika Viets, with whom she talked about Kosovo’s European agenda and the possibilities to put forward key processes.
In more details was discussed about the cooperation we had both through the GIZ project “;Support to the European Integration Process in Kosovo”; as well as other projects focusing on the implementation of the SAA and visa liberalization, where regarding the second issue, Ambassador Viets reaffirmed the Germany support for Kosovo to achieve this goal.
It was also discussed about importance of communicating the SAA and involvement of the public to understand in detail what the SAA means for them and how will contribute in improving their welfare.
Minister Ahmetaj spoke about the importance of creating conditions for potential investors who may come from Germany to Kosovo to develop their businesses, and also to contribute to the creation of new jobs for Kosovo citizens.
On her part, Ambassador Viets talked about the new momentum created among German investors since Kosovo has signed the SAA with the EU. The projects or investments which have already been taking place are in the field of alternative energy. These projects will take place in different areas of Kosovo and are expected to provide additional electricity and will generate approximately 8000 new jobs. Also, Ambassador Viets confirmed that Germany will continue to provide support for the European perspective of Kosovo and the development of economic cooperation to the benefit of both countries.
Minister Ahmetaj stressed that Kosovo really appreciates the support from Germany and considers that Germany is among the main partners of Kosovo in the international arena. Ms. Ahmetaj expressed the willingness of the Government of Kosovo to strengthen cooperation with Germany in favor of Kosovo’s development and bringing the country closer to the European Union.
