Discussion on Key priorities in the Rule of Law

Prishtina, 12 December 2016 – Today, Deputy Minister of European Integration Ms. Anila Statovci Demaj met with Minister of Justice Ms. Dhurata Hoxha on which occasion they discussed the key priorities in the process of European integration.

 

In particular, discussion took place in the context of visa liberalization process targeting the progress on fulfillment of one of the two remaining priorities, namely to continue the fight against organized crime and corruption, and the progress in the framework of 33 targeted cases.

 

Also, discussion was focused on fulfillment of the priorities on European Reform Agenda, with special emphasis on the adoption of amendments to the Draft Law on Prevention of Conflict of Interest and the necessary legal changes for suspension and dismissal of public officials involved in the corruption affairs. During the meeting, also they discussed about the functional review of the legal framework in the rule of law.

There was a consensus to approve the legislation on prevention of conflicts of interest as soon as possible, and to prepare the concept document necessary to ensure the amendment and supplementation of legislation on the suspension and dismissal of public officials involved in corruption affairs.

 

Also, in this meeting they discussed the EU assistance on the rule of law, which will be included within the IPA 2018.
