Strasbourg, 24 October 2018 – Minister of European Integration, Dhurata Hoxha, met in Strasbourg with David McAllister, Chair of the AFET Committee on Foreign Affairs, Security, Defence and Human Rights & Rapporteur at the European Parliament, while they discussed visa liberalization.
Minister Hoxha requested Mr McAllister’s support for visa liberalization and stressed that Kosovo has implemented all the recommendations for visa liberalization, according to the liberalization roadmap.
The Minister highly appreciated the commitment of Mr McAllister and of the AFET Committee to encourage the process of visa liberalization for Kosovo citizens, with particular emphasis on the achievements in meeting the criteria of the roadmap. The Minister emphasized that the campaign, which has been launched already, on liberalization was welcomed by the citizens, as they could get the right information on how to comply with the process and on the benefits of having free movement.
Minister Hoxha asked Mr McAllister to proceed according to deadlines so that the free movement does not become an obstacle to the development of Kosovo and its citizens. It is now the EU’s turn to do its job since we have met the criteria and to demonstrate that it is as a credible partner, said the Minister during the meeting.
