The Chief Negotiator of the Republic of Kosovo with the EU, Mr. Jeton Zulfaj, held today in Stockholm a fruitful meeting with Ambassador Torbjörn Sohlström, Director General and Head of the Department for European Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sweden

The Chief Negotiator of the Republic of Kosovo with the EU, Mr. Jeton Zulfaj, held today in Stockholm a fruitful meeting with Ambassador Torbjörn Sohlström, Director General and Head of the Department for European Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sweden. The meeting was also attended by Mr. Carl Michael Gräns, Deputy Head of the Department, as well as Ms. Emilie Johansson and Ms. Andrea Masreliez Hall, responsible for Kosovo-related issues.

Chief Negotiator Zulfaj thanked Mr. Sohlström for Sweden’s assistance and contribution to the building and development of the Republic of Kosovo. As one of the five largest donors to Kosovo, Sweden has made an extraordinary contribution in essential areas of the rule of law, economic development and the advancement of democracy and has been and remains a consistent voice in support of Kosovo’s EU membership.

Mr. Zulfaj highlighted the progress that Kosovo has made on its European path, underlining that now is the time for Kosovo to obtain candidate country status and open accession negotiations. He emphasized that it is precisely the accession process that brings about the reforms necessary for the country’s sustainable development and progress.

Mr. Zulfaj shared with Ambassador Sohlström the progress on the reform agenda and appreciated his many years of contribution to Kosovo, during an important period in Kosovo’s history, a period for which Ambassador Sohlström also shared his personal memories.
