Prishtina, 10 March 2020 – The Minister of European Integration, Blerim Reka, hosted Maria Suokko, UNDP Resident Representative in Kosovo, with whom he discussed the joint projects implemented so far and the possibilities of expanding this cooperation.
Minister Reka highly praised the cooperation between the two institutions and offered the readiness for cooperating in a more strategic and long-term approach, both in strengthening the institutional capacities to increase the performance in the European integration process and in achieving sustainable development.
Minister Reka highlighted the key role that UNDP has played and continues to play in Kosovo’s state-building and sustainable development, inviting Ms Suokko to continue this cooperation with Kosovo in terms of rule of law, good governance, accountability and transparency, especially in the capacity building for projects of common interest such as Green Agenda, Renewable Energy and Innovative Financing.
On the other hand, Ms Suokko emphasized that this is a crucial moment for coordinating priorities with local institutions to have a long-term, joint strategy so that support and cooperation is focused and effective in improving the well-being of Kosovo’s citizens.
In the framework of this cooperation, MEI and UNDP will focus on strategic and long-term aspects, including the expertise for further development of Kosovo’s institutional capacity.
