Brussels, 16 December 2016. – Deputy Minister of European Integration, Ms. Anila Statovci-Demaj was in a several-day official visit to Brussels, whereby she co-chaired the first sub-committee under the Stabilisation and Association Agreement, and meet with high-level representatives from European Union institutions.
Deputy Minister Statovci-Demaj met with the Director for the Western Balkans in the Directorate-General for Enlargement, Ms. Genoveva Ruiz Calavera, and the Director for Western Europe, Western Balkans and Turkey, Ms. Angelina Eicchorst and the Head of Unit for Kosovo in the European Commission, Mr. David Cullen, as well as other institutional representatives.
During these introductory meetings, the deputy minister and her interlocutors from European institutions reflected on the statement of the EU presidency for the enlargement countries, published this week, and also discussed priority issues related to the European integration process, including rapid completion of the visa liberalisation process, implementation of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement, with priority on the measures identified in the European Reform Agenda, as well as EU financial assistances, political developments in the country, regional relations and other issues of common interest.
Deputy Minister Statovci-Demaj emphasised the necessity of having the support of the EU’s institutional representatives in the rapid completion of the visa liberalisation process, and requested to reconfirm the country’s European perspective.
