Kosovo aims to be part of Open Governement Partnership

 

Prishtina, 28 August 2013 – Minister of the European Integration, Vlora Çitaku, hosted today in a meeting representing Ambassadors of; USA, Great Britain and Norway, establishing members of the “Open Government Partnership (OGP). In the meeting was present also Fidan Kalaja from the movement FOL. In this occasion were discussed possibilities and preconditions for Kosovo to prepare for membership in this organization.

Minister Çitaku during the meeting reasoned that Kosovo membership in this organization will only strengthen a more transparent, efficient and responsible government with institutions that empower citizens and are responsible for their aspirations. This is an interconnection between political leadership, technical knowledge, ongoing efforts and sustainable investments followed by cooperation between state institutions and civil society.

Ambassadors unanimously appreciated the initiative and commitment of Kosovo institutions to be part of the Open Government Partnership and to contribute as much to the country’s development and relationship with members of the OGP. In addition, ambassadors expressed their full support, which Kosovo is going to have for the membership in this Organization.
