The Chief Negotiator of the Republic of Kosovo with the European Union, Jeton Zulfaj, participated in the panel “Integration into the European Union and Regional Mechanisms”, within the framework of the 9th Conference of Ambassadors, where he discussed with the heads of Kosovo’s diplomatic missions the process of membership in the EU, as well as the role and importance of our diplomacy in advancing the candidate status and opening negotiations.
Chief Negotiator Zulfaj emphasized that Kosovo has strong arguments for obtaining the status of a candidate country and the earliest opening of negotiations for membership. Kosovo is a dynamic democracy, with a stable and growing economy, fully harmonized with the EU’s Common Foreign and Security Policy, and a proactive and reliable partner of the European Union. Kosovo’s progress towards the EU strengthens democratic institutions and contributes to peace, security and the democratic perspective of the entire region.
The Chief Negotiator assessed that Kosovo’s diplomatic missions have an important role in pushing forward the arguments to EU member states.
During the conversation and question and answer session, Kosovo’s approach to the accession process, dynamics within the EU and member states, reforms and how diplomatic missions can directly contribute to advancing the accession agenda were discussed in more detail.
