The Chief Negotiator of the Republic of Kosovo with the European Union, Mr. Jeton Zulfaj, together with the Minister of State and Chief Negotiator of the Republic of Albania with the European Union, Ms. Majlinda Dhuka, opened today in Tirana the workshop for the exchange of experiences stemming from the process of membership in the European Union.
This full-day workshop is the result of the agreement to deepen cooperation in the field of European integration, reached during the first meeting between the two Chief Negotiators, on April 20.
Today’s meeting focused on organizing preparations for the questionnaire, the ‘screening’ phase and the creation of inter-institutional negotiating bodies.
Kosovo aims to obtain the status of a candidate country and open negotiations for membership in the European Union. This goal is being accompanied by early institutional preparations so that when decisions are taken, the response of the institutions is rapid, coordinated and qualitative.
Drawing on Albania’s newly-created experience in this process serves as an important opportunity to build the necessary structures that respond to the complex and comprehensive process of negotiations with the European Union.
Mr. Zulfaj congratulated Ms. Dhuka and her team for her and the team’s engagement and dedication in the negotiation process with the European Union and expressed his gratitude for the willingness to share Albania’s valuable experience.
