Kosovo’s Chief Negotiator with the European Union, Jeton Zulfaj, Holds First Meeting with Acting Head of the EU Office, Eva Palatova

Kosovo’s Chief Negotiator with the European Union, Jeton Zulfaj, held his first meeting since taking office with the Acting Head of the EU Office, Eva Palatova.

Recently appointed as Chief Negotiator of the Republic of Kosovo with the European Union and National Coordinator for the Reform and Growth Instrument, Mr. Zulfaj held his first meeting since assuming his mandate with Ms. Palatova, Acting Head of the European Union Office in Kosovo. This marked his first official meeting at the start of his mandate. During the meeting, he reaffirmed Kosovo’s strategic commitment to membership in the European Union.

Ms. Palatova congratulated Mr. Zulfaj on his appointment and reaffirmed the European Union’s continued support for Kosovo’s reform agenda. The discussion focused on the current state of the integration process and the implementation of the Growth Plan, emphasizing that following the ratification of the agreements, sustained efforts are needed to implement the required actions.

Mr. Zulfaj stressed that he expects his mandate to be driven by results, underscoring the importance of fully meeting all obligations undertaken within the Growth Plan. He expressed Kosovo’s readiness to work in close coordination with EU institutions to ensure steady progress in reforms.

“Aware of the delays, we will do our utmost to ensure that every step under the Growth Plan is fulfilled, and I expect this new phase to translate into concrete results in the integration process,” said Mr. Zulfaj. In this regard, he highlighted obtaining candidate country status and advancing in the integration process as the government’s key objectives.

Mr. Zulfaj thanked Ms. Palatova for the meeting and for the cooperation.
